The Wonder Years Signs To Hopeless Records

Hopeless Records has officially signed Philadelphia pop-punk/hardcore band The Wonder Years. Formed in 2005, the group has previously put out several releases through No Sleep Records.

The band comments: "Hopeless was the right choice for us. We've never been concerned with sounding like the other bands on a label. I mean, when we signed with No Sleep there were two other bands on the label. One sounded like Botch and the other sounded like Modest Mouse. For us, it's more important that a label gets us and what we want to do and after a ton of meetings with Hopeless, we know that it’s the right home for us. The roster is small and so we know we won't get lost in the mix. The staff members are hard working and super nice. We respect all of the charity work the label does and are excited to be a part of a label that has such an interest in helping people. Hopeless has an amazing back catalog full of some of my all-time favorite records and we're really honored to have the chance to even be mentioned in the same breath as some of their bands.

I don't think they're sad anymore.

Psycroptic Prepare New Album

Official press release:

Tasmania's technical death metallers Psycroptic are currently hard at work on writting material for their follow-up to their Nuclear Blast Records debut Ob(Servant). The band will be writing the new record right up until their US tour with Egyptian themed deathers Nile, the ancient Roman themed arsenal Ex Deo, Norwegian extreme metallers Keep Of Kalessin, and brutal death grinders Pathology.

States guitarist Joe Haley: "We're half way through the writing process for the new Psycroptic album, and everything is going great. The songs are coming together really naturally - nothing sounds forced, and we're really excited to start recording this one. The material is the strongest and most memorable we have written .I know every band says this but if it wasn’t true there wouldn't be a point in us recording it! The Demoing process will begin in the next few weeks. We hope to have everything finished up before we head out on the last touring for Ob(Servant)."

Isis Throwing In The Towel

“ISIS has reached an end. It’s hard to try to say it in any delicate way, and it is a truth that is best spoken plainly. This end isn’t something that occurred over night and it hasn’t been brought about by a single cataclysmic fracture in the band. Simply put, ISIS has done everything we wanted to do, said everything we wanted to say.

In the interest of preserving the love we have of this band, for each other, for the music made and for all the people who have continually supported us, it is time to bring it to a close. We’ve seen too many bands push past the point of a dignified death and we all promised one another early on in the life of the band that we would do our best to ensure ISIS would never fall victim to that syndrome.

We’ve had a much longer run than we ever expected we would and accomplished a great deal more than we ever imagined possible. We never set any specific goals when the band was founded other than to make the music we wanted to hear and to play (and to stay true to that ideal), so everything else that has come along the long and winding path has been an absolute gift.

As with any momentous life-changing decision (which this certainly is for the 5 of us), we feel a very dynamic range of emotions about this and cannot express all of it within the space of a few sentences, and perhaps it’s best to do what we’ve always done in and let our music speak for us. It is and has been the truest expression of who we are as a collective and in some ways who we are as individuals for the 13 years in which we’ve been together.

The last and perhaps most important thing we might say in relation to all this is how grateful we are for the people that have supported us over the years. It is a lengthy list that would include those who put out our records, those that played on them and put them to tape, the many bands with whom we shared the stage, all of our family, friends and companions who supported us in our individual lives and thus made it possible for us to continue on in the band, and most importantly those who truly listened to our music whether in recorded form or by coming to out to our shows (or both).

It is quite true that we would never have done what we have without those people, that is many of you who are reading this. Our words can never fully express what we feel, but we hope that our music and the efforts made to bring it into being can serve as a more proper expression of gratitude for this life and for everyone in it. Thank you.

In more immediate and practical terms the tour we are about to embark upon is indeed our last. We are hoping that these final live rituals can help us bring a close to the life of this band in a celebratory and reverent way, and also provide us with a chance to say goodbye to many of those that have supported us over the years.

While there is a measure of sadness that comes with the passing of this band, we hope that the final days can be joyous ones during which any and all that wish to come and join us will do so. It seems fitting that the last show of the tour and of our active existence will take place in Montreal, the site of the very first ISIS show in 1997 (though that was an unintentional move when booking the show initially).

After the tour we also plan to follow through with other projects set in motion some time ago – pursuing the completion of a final EP, compiling live audio and visual material for future releases, and generally doing whatever we can to make our music available for as long as there are people who wish to hear it.

Thanks again to any and all,

ISIS, May 18, 2010″

Can say I didn't see this coming at all. Wavering Radiant blew my mind away.

Cruel Hand Album art Released

Today, Cruel Hand is proud to unveil the cover art for Lock & Key as illustrated by Ryan Eyestone. Vocalist Chris Linkovich said, "This artwork rules and we couldn't be happier about how it turned out. It's definitely frame-worthy, and you can find frames at Ikea, the mall or your local framer - always buy local when you can!"

Since the release of Cruel Hand's Bridge Nine debut, Prying Eyes, in 2008, the band has been a relentless touring machine and one of the tightest bands in the hardcore world. Cruel Hand has shared the stage with bands like Have Heart, Bane, Terror, and Death Before Dishonor, and will continue to tour the globe non-stop in support of Lock & Key. Stay tuned to Bridge9.com for more details and pre-orders on Lock & Key to be announced soon!

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Rebirth

Torche Robbed

Torche lost a number equipement, instruments and personal items as a result of their van being broken into last night in Chicago, IL. The group offered the following statement on the matter:

“Last night in Chicago our van got broken into and a bunch of our equipment got stolen. Among the stolen equipment was both of Jon’s bass guitars (custom first act and custom electrical guitar company), our new guitar player’s custom guitar, Steve’s black les paul custom, Steve and Jon’s pedal boards, all our guitar stands, bags of cables and strings, and a bunch of personal bags that included check books, passports, IDs, etc etc…

Since 3 out of the 5 of us lost our passports, we won’t be able to play our shows in Canada now on May 18th and 19th. We’re trying to find anyone interested in setting up last minute house shows/small bar shows around the Northeast to try and make some extra money. The total of all our shit that got ripped off easily exceeds $10,000 and we just borrowed money to put a down payment on a new van before this trip, so we’re in a bad situation right now.

If anyone thinks they might be able to help us out with shows in the Northeast on May 18th, 19th, and 20th, it would be greatly appreciated!!!”

UFC 114 - Rampage Vs Evans

MAIN CARD

•Rashad Evans vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson
•Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
•Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller
•Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow
•John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez
PRELIMINARY CARD

•Dong Hyun Kim vs. Amir Sadollah
•Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon
•Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares
•Luiz Cane vs. Cyrille Diabate
•Joe Brammer vs. Aaron Riley
•Jesse Forbes vs. Ryan Jensen

– A shoulder injury has forced Forrest Griffin to withdraw from his UFC 114 matchup against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

My bets are
-Jackson by 1rst or second round knockout. After Evans' knockout from L. Machida, he was never the same. Which was apparent in his lousy performance against Thiago Silva.

-Dan Miller by Submission maybe TKO. Bisbing isn't much for finishing a fight. He just hopes to get lucky from a counter.

-And of course I'm in Diego Sanchez's corner. That's my boy. He only get's better. After what he did to Clay Guida, I'm always in his corner. And on top of that, who the fuck is John Hathaway anyway.

Shogun Rua New Light Heavyweight Champion

The only guy in the Light Heavy division that truly had what it takes to defeat L. Machida and what do you know. He comes out victorious in Round 1. That's what's up. He wants Randy " The Natural" Coture next but it's not in writing yet. As the Evans V. Jackson victor is not guaranteed a title shot, who knows what's up Dana White's sleeves for this year.
Also Koscheck , with his boring win over Daley, will go into the next ultimate fighter as a coach, and proceed to fight GSP for the title.
